THE EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE

The Executive Committee is made up of representatives elected by member Governing Bodies in the three Local Authority areas. Members serve for a term of three years, with a rolling programme of elections.

AREA NORTH  LANCASTER & NORTH WYRE,  FYLDE AND SOUTH WYRE
Jim Proctor
I have just retired after working as a Joiner nearly all my working life.  At present I have just been made chair of governors at Copp school Great Eccleston, I'm also governor at Great Arley School Thornton.  I am a Parish Councillor for Great Eccleston, I am a Neighbourhood Watch co-ordinator for 650 houses in great Eccleston. I chair the Garstang and over Wyre Neighbourhood Watch Association I am also the secretary. I am a trustee of the Great Eccleston Village Centre. I am also on the representative committee for the Wyre in Bloom. I am a season ticket holder at Preston North End FC and Lancashire Cricket Club. I do enjoy my activities and to date there are not many meetings I have missed.
 
Roger Sherlock
Roger is Vice Chairman of Governors at Grosvenor Park and Ryelands Community Primary Schools. Before retirement he worked in the engineering industry. He is a Lancaster City Council and is currently the Mayor of Lancaster. He represents the Council on a number of bodies - CAR, Age Concern and the local Police Forum. He is also Chairman of the local Community Centre.

Christine Storey
Christine is a retired secondary school teacher.  She became a parent governor in 1985 and since then she has been a member of 8 governing bodies, primary and secondary, Community and Voluntary Aided. She was an Honorary Schools Adviser for Blackburn Diocese for over 10 years and a tutor for Lancashire Governor Services for over 15 years.  She is a founder member of the LASGB, has served as Chairman and is currently President. Christine is a Primary School Governor member of the Lancashire Schools Forum. Her interests include local and family history. 
 
 
 
 
AREA SOUTH PRESTON AND SOUTH RIBBLE, CHORLEY AND WEST LANCASHIRE
 
Dianne Hodgson
Dianne is Chair of Governors at Moorbrook High School, Fulwood, and Elm Tree Community Primary School at Skelmersdale. All are schools which cater for children and young people who are statemented with B.S.E.D. She represents Preston on the LASGB.  Dianne is a retired lecturer in F.E.,  sits as chair of the Board of Trustees for a Charity which provides supported accommodation for homeless young people, and also represents L.A.S.G.B. on the Safeguarding Board (locality) for south Lancashire.  Having spent her entire professional life working in the area of abused, disaffected and vulnerable children and young people she has an abiding interest in working towards ensuring all children and young people can feel safe, secure, and enabled.
 
 
Kathleen Cooper
Kathleen is Chairman of Governors at Bishop Rawsthorne C of E Language College, where she taught. She is also a governor at SS Peter & Paul Catholic Primary School and Chairman of the management Committee of the Acorn Centre, a Short Stay School.  Kathleen is a founder member of the LASGB and has represented Area D since its formation. She represents the Association on SACRE (Standing Committee on Religious Education), the Partnership Development Group the Admission Forum South, the Lancashire Schools Forum and the Performance and Appraisal Steering Group. Kathleen is a farmer and retired teacher and is interested in enhancing the educational opportunities for all young people to enable them to become responsible and active members of society.
 
 
Bill Hodgson
Bill is the Chair of Governors at Hope High School, in Skelmersdale and a Governor at The Rose School in Burnley. Both are B.S.E.D. Schools for Secondary pupils. He is the Special School Governor representative on the School's Forum. He is a retired Lancashire Police Officer who towards the end of his service was a Training Officer, then had responsibility for Community Affairs in the West Lancashire and Chorley areas. He is currently the Chair of the L.A.S.G.B.    He is a Trustee of the Crisis Centre in Skelmersdale that provides training and accommodation for 16 to 24 year olds in the West Lancashire Area. He has a particular interest in supporting young people with learning difficulties.
 
 
Vikki Harrhy
Vikki is a governor at Lathom High School-A Technology College, a sports’ college in a different local authority and is a parish councillor. Previously, she has been a governor in 3-19 SLD school, again in a different authority. A secondary teacher, she spent much of her career, until her retirement in 2007, in teacher education and physical education at Edge Hill University, both as a senior lecturer and as a course leader. Variously, she has served as National Secretary of her professional association, on the national executive of her union and as an Ofsted team inspector. Her interests are reading, music, classical civilisations and physical literacy.

 

 
AREA EAST  HYNDBURN AND RIBBLE VALLEY, BURNLEY, PENDLE AND ROSSENDALE
 
Maggi Harris
Maggi is the representative for Area E. She is the LEA Governor at Hyndburn Park CP School and an additional Governor at Shuttleworth College. She is a retired English Teacher who specialised in Learning Support. She serves on the National Appeals Committee for students with learning difficulties and disabilities. Maggi is the minute secretary for the LASGB and edits the LASGB Newsletter. She is particularly interested in supporting young people with learning difficulties.
 
 
Joan Hayselden
Joan is a retired secondary school Deputy Headteacher, having taught in Manchester Wythenshawe and Moss Side schools prior to coming to Accrington 17 years ago.  She has been Chair of Governors at Huncoat Primary School for many years and is also an LEA Governor at Great Harwood Primary School. She is particularly interested in management issues and raising achievement
 
Linda Gauton
Linda is an LA governor at Thomas Witham Sixth Form College Burnley.  She has been involved with the Building Schools for the Future in Burnley since its onset and was a governor at Shuttleworth College, taking over the Chair of Governors in 2006. Linda joined the Executive Committee of the LASGB in 2006, attending meetings regularly and enjoys her position on the executive
