    The 2023 Annual Conference was held on 14 October 2023, at The Salmesbury Hotel, Preston New Road, Samlesbury, Preston, PR5 0UL

    Theme: Leading with Courage – Educating for the future
    We had over 100 delegates register  – and those who were able to join us enjoyed an exclusive, engaging event  featuring the following speakers :-

    Diana Osagie – an inspirational speaker who is nationally renowned for her promotion of courageous leadership in education. Diana has been a successful school leader, trainer, OFSTED Inspector and best-selling author. This opportunity to meet her and hear her speak is not to be missed!

    Dave McPartlin – Headteacher of Flakefleet Primary School, Fleetwood. Colleagues will know him from his appearances with his pupils on ITVs Britain’s Got Talent! Dave is regularly a guest speaker at conferences where he expounds his philosophy and discusses how schools can nurture the highest aspirations for all pupils and staff.

    Aby Hardy – Lancashire’s Head of Education Improvement – Aby will discuss Lancashire 2050 and share plans that are being formed for the future of our authority. As key leaders in the education of Lancashire’s children you as governors will, we are sure, be keen to learn about these proposals.     LASGB 26th Annual Conference 2021 – ‘Focusing on the Future’

    Our (delayed) 26th Annual Conference took place on Saturday 16 October 2021.

    This was first “face to face” conference for nearly 2 years!

    Our speakers included Janet Myers, who is the National Governance Association Regional Lead in the North West, and Carl Ward who is Chair of the Foundation for Education Development.

    Both were excellent speakers who inspired and informed!

    LASGB 25th Annual Conference 2019 – The Future of School Governance

    The LASGB held its 25th Annual on Saturday 11th May 2019.

    The conference was opened by our Chair, John Davey, and the speakers were:

    Suzi Charles – County Councillor, Cabinet member for Children, Young People and Schools
    Edwina Grant OBE – Executive Director of Education and Children’s Services
    Steve Belbin – Acting Director of Education
    Jayne Wynne – Looking at your ‘Brand’ click Managing Messages for Jayne’s presentation and Work Sheet for the worksheet
    Emma Knights OBE – CEO of National Governors’ Association

    Our President Bill Hodgson closed the conference.

    This was another opportunity to meet the executive, hear some great speakers and raise issues that concern you and generally share good practice with other governors in Lancashire.

  • LASGB 24th Annual Conference 2018

    Please note that the LASGB held its 24th Annual on Saturday, 19th May 2018.

    Registration and refreshments were from 9:00 with the conference starting at 9.30am.

    The conference was held at The Hallmark Hotel Leyland, Leyland Way, Preston, PR25 4JX  (click here for map).

    Also on the agenda was a presentation on school funding and we will be presenting the LASGB Governors awards.

    The conference closed 13:30.

  • LASGB 23rd Annual Conference 2017

    The LASGB 23rd Annual Conference was a very successful.

    Key note speaker was Dr Christine Hough.
    Christine titled her presentation “Life in the Inspection Pit – How to maintain our own schools”. Dr Hough left the following message on the LASGB Facebook page “Was delighted to give the Keynote at LASGB conference on Saturday. It was a great pleasure to meet and talk to people who work tirelessly for their schools – a privilege to be involved, thank you. Dr Chris Hough.”. We would like to thank Dr Hough.

    Amanda Hatton, the LCC Director of Children’s Services; Ajay Sethi, LCC Head of Learning and Skills; Gill Cornwall, Service Delivery Manager, Health, Safety and Quality and Kevin Smith, Financial Advisor to the Schools’ Forum.     We were also delighted to distribute awards  to some of the nominees put forward over the last year – outstanding governors and governance full list here.
